Weekly Patent and Industrial Design Statistics – May 27, 2022 to June 3, 2022


This week’s patent and design data has been compiled from the Official Patent and Design Journal, published by the patent office on June 3, 2022. These statistics are brought to you by lawyers in patents and experts from BananaIP Counsels, the Indian leader in intellectual property. Solidify.


A total of 1,442 patent applications were published in the 22nd issue of the Patent Journal, 2022. Of the 1,442 applications published in the journal, 414 applications represent early publications while 1,028 applications represent ordinary publications or later publications to 18 – month period. A total of 708 applications were awarded last week compared to 568 grants the week before last marking an increase of approximately 24.65%

Number of applications published according to the “candidate city”

Of the total 1,442 patent applications published in the journal last week, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata contributed a total of 267 applications. The total entries from each of the previously mentioned cities are as follows – 31 entries from Delhi, 91 entries from Mumbai, 28 entries from Pune, 40 entries from Bangalore, 47 entries from Chennai, 26 entries from Hyderabad and 4 entries from Kolkata.
