Weekly Patent and Industrial Design Statistics – March 25, 2022 to April 1, 2022


This week’s patent and design data has been compiled from the Official Patent and Design Journal, published by the patent office on April 1, 2022. These statistics are brought to you by lawyers in patents and experts from BananaIP Counsels, the Indian leader in intellectual property. Solidify.


A total of 1,299 patent applications were published in the 13th issue of the Patent Journal, 2022. Of the 1,299 applications published in the journal, 246 applications represent early publications while 1,053 applications represent ordinary publications or later publications to 18 – month period. A total of 881 applications were awarded last week compared to 584 grants the week before last, marking an increase of approximately 50.86%

Of the total 1,299 patent applications published in the journal last week, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata contributed a total of 211 applications. The total entries from each of the previously mentioned cities are as follows – 36 entries from Delhi, 26 entries from Mumbai, 16 entries from Pune, 92 entries from Bangalore, 22 entries from Chennai, 18 entries from Hyderabad and 1 entry from Kolkata.
