Weekly Patent and Industrial Design Statistics – March 18, 2022 to March 25, 2022


This week’s patent and design data has been compiled from the Official Patent and Design Journal, published by the patent office on March 25, 2022. These statistics are brought to you by lawyers in patents and experts from BananaIP Counsels, the Indian leader in intellectual property. Solidify.


A total of 1,373 patent applications were published in the 12th issue of the Patent Journal, 2022. Of the 1,373 applications published in the journal, 328 applications represent early publications while 1,045 applications represent ordinary publications or later publications to 18 – month period. A total of 584 applications were awarded last week compared to 500 grants the week before last marking an increase of around 16.8%

Of the total 1,373 patent applications published in the journal last week, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata contributed a total of 255 applications. The total entries from each of the previously mentioned cities are as follows – 21 entries from Delhi, 40 entries from Mumbai, 20 entries from Pune, 89 entries from Bangalore, 58 entries from Chennai, 25 entries from Hyderabad and 3 entries from Kolkata.
