Teaching Assistant/Instructor, Industrial Design Work with NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF SINGAPORE
As part of the university’s new joint curriculum, the Industrial Design Division will offer course modules on Design Thinking. These modules are compulsory for NUS students and will be delivered using a synchronous/asynchronous teaching model.
Design thinking is a series of processes that develop an ability to place a problem in context, to observe and listen, to think critically and to collaborate effectively to produce a solution that considers both form and function. Students will be exposed to both design thinking theory and hands-on prototyping activities.
We are currently looking for dynamic, passionate and inspiring teaching assistants who have a clear knowledge of Design Thinking processes. You will also need to be able to communicate effective concepts to students in disciplines other than design and contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching content and pedagogy.
It’s a fulltime position and offers a tremendous opportunity for professional development. Candidates will receive training in design teaching and animation. All course materials will be provided.
You will actively work with the Design Thinking program coordinator and faculty content creators. You will be responsible for managing multiple classes of the same course module of approximately 25 students, providing feedback and assessment during class hours and consultations, as students work through a series of Design Workshops Thinking. As a staff member of the Industrial Design Division, you will also provide support to various activities and service areas.
Applicants are required to have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related discipline, with a keen interest in teaching, as well as a track record of excellence in design, research and/or practice. Remuneration will be based on experience and degree.
