LUC and Kilgore College launch industrial technology degree

As part of their ongoing partnership to expand opportunities for student success in Longview, Kilgore and Gregg County, Longview University Center and Kilgore College have launched a Roadmap to Success program in industrial technology, also known as the name of applied engineering.

“Working with representatives from Kilgore College and Pine Tree High School, we have developed a plan that offers students a route to earn a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology in a relatively short period of time and at a great price. “said UT. Tyler President Rodney H. Mabry.

“The changes to the Texas legislature allowed students to earn up to 60 hours of double credit tuition while still in high school,” said Cindy Gabehart, principal of Pine Tree High School. “Pine Tree ISD has made arrangements to pay the tuition fees of all of its dual credit students, saving them thousands of dollars. “

This is a wonderful opportunity for the young men and women of Pine Tree High School as they can transfer double credit courses, the majority of which are offered by Kilgore College, into the Roadmap to Success programs, said the president. from Kilgore College, Brenda S. Kays. “Students taking recommended programs for Industrial Maintenance, Diesel, or other qualified technology programs should experience a smooth transition to UT Tyler’s Industrial Technology Diploma Program once whether they have completed the common core or have obtained their associate of arts degree, “she said.

“We are thrilled to launch this program at the Longview campus,” said Mark Miller, professor and chair of the technology department. “The UT Tyler Industrial Technology Program is one of only two programs accredited by the State of Texas Association of Technology, Management and Applied Engineering. Local employers are looking for people with this type of knowledge. The majority of our graduates receive multiple job offers and are employed as purchasing, safety, factory and inventory managers, production supervisors, and manufacturing, project and industrial engineers.
