High frequency ac-dc controllers and drivers enhance industrial design

ONSEMI NCP1345, NCP1623, NCP4307 controllers and driver incorporate innovative features that greatly reduce the BOM content of high-efficiency AC-DC power supplies, especially for load ranges above 100W.

NCP1345 Quasi-Resonant (QR) flyback controller for high performance offline power supplies and USB Type-C PD fast charging applications. High-frequency QR operation (up to 350 kHz) helps reduce the size of magnetic components. The device is compliant with the Limited Power Source (LPS) requirement due to the built-in constant output current limit, while fast frequency fallback features ensure excellent light load efficiency.

NCP1623 small form factor Boost Power Factor Correction (PFC) controller rated up to 300W for USB PD fast charging adapters and computer power supplies. The device operates in critical conduction mode (CrM) at heavy loads before entering discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) when the load decreases, maximizing efficiency at nominal and light loads. The device can increase efficiency by up to 2% at low input voltages and offers a

NCP4307 high-performance driver for use with synchronous rectification (SR) MOSFETs in several high-performance switch-mode power supply topologies. The device will self-power from an internal 200V CS pin, allowing high side configuration and low VOUT without requiring an auxiliary supply. The dual VCC pin selects the optimal VCC source to minimize losses, optimizing designs for wide-range VOUT applications.
