A supply chain needs manager for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) has acquired a company based in Northern Ireland.

Spring Lake-based EQI announced on Tuesday (November 30th) that it has acquired Craigavon, Northern Ireland-based Industrial Paint Solutions (IPS), a provider of repair, VMI and paint finish services.

Terms of the contract are not disclosed.

EQI said the acquisition will enable it to bring enhanced service capabilities to the OEMs it serves to seamlessly manage their global supply chain needs.

IPS was founded in 2011 by Richard Graham, who still runs the company today, now as part of EQI. The company provides finish painting services (wet and powder coatings), counterweight repairs, supplier managed inventory and other OEM services. The paint finish is critical to the ease of use of the castings, which will now be handled by EQI in-house at the Craigavon plant, the companies said.

“There is no greater compliment than when a customer you serve wants your team to be part of their team,” Graham said. “We are thrilled to be a part of EQI’s unprecedented supply chain management services for OEMs who rely on us for superior quality finished castings. “

Since its founding in 2004, EQI has provided supply chain management services – including sourcing, manufacturing and logistics – to OEMs who purchase metal castings in markets such as material handling, aerial work platforms, construction, oil and gas, forestry and agricultural industries.

To support its services, the company maintains a network of more than 50 foundry partnerships in China, India and Vietnam and has sites in Michigan; Beijing; Coimbatore, India; and Hanoi, Vietnam. When OEMs need assistance with engineering, logistics, new product design, or now painting and repairs, EQI strives to provide a one-stop-shop to meet their needs.

“IPS has been a leading supplier to EQI since its inception, and we are pleased now to bring its reputation for exceptional VMI and topcoat capabilities to EQI’s scope of services,” said Blake Phillips, CEO of EQI. “Our goal is to make it easier to navigate the supply chain for our customers, and integrating IPS into our service offering will strengthen our best-in-class service capabilities. “
