Who are we looking for?

The Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking an Associate Lecturer/Lecturer in Industrial Design to join the School of Design, Faculty of Creative Industries, Education and Social Justice, academic department.

The Associate Lecturer/Lecturer in Industrial Design will contribute to/lead curriculum development for the new Industrial Design course and contribute to teaching and research in the field of study and across the industry. school of design. As a member of the industrial design team, the successful candidate will be expected to align their research with the design lab and actively contribute to undergraduate teaching and graduate-level research supervision. As a Lecturer/Associate Lecturer, the successful candidate will also provide leadership in service to the University and engagement with industry, community, professional associations, alumni and other stakeholders .

About the School of Design

In 2019 a new curriculum started at the school which saw the new course in Visual Communication launched alongside the introduction of a number of cross-faculty double degrees.

Students participate in collaborative, problem-based learning approaches aligned with real-world experiences and contexts. What you need to succeed

You will thrive in this role as an experienced and dynamic scholar with a passion for innovative research and teaching, which prepares students for the real world.

You will demonstrate:

  1. Completion of a doctorate in a relevant disciplinary field or equivalent professional experience and recognition.
  2. Disciplinary expertise/track record and demonstrated leadership in teaching, including the design and delivery of innovative curricula at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  3. Demonstrated leadership in industrial design research, evidenced by national recognition and impactful research activities and results.
  4. Expertise in the technical aspects of industrial design to fulfill our commitments to teaching advanced manufacturing, CAD and transportation design.
  5. Research experience in a technical area that can align with our focus areas in advanced manufacturing, biomanufacturing, medical technologies, and design robotics.
