Taipei, Taiwan – (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – 2021 TIE Taiwan Innotech Expo officially kicked off online and at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1 today (October 14e). The Industrial Technology Department (DoIT) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan selected 68 TDP technologies and 13 innovative technologies incubated by TDP from more than one hundred TDP executed by 17 legal persons for the event. Technologies that drive industrial modernization are presented in the TIE Discovering Technology Treasures section. Innovative AI and 5G applications are at the heart of the exhibition, along with new technologies and industry trends in precision health and low-carbon economics.

The TIE Discovering Technology Treasures section has two major characteristics: crucial technologies for future industrial modernization and innovative startups with high potential in industries. DoIT Director General Chiou Chyou-Huey stressed that innovation is a key factor in improving the global competitiveness of a country’s industry. The 68 selected technologies showcased this year include AI Mammography Assistant, an innovative AI application that reduces wait times for breast cancer test results; and the production of methanol from CO2 with low carbon technology introduced by the DoIT in response to the EU border carbon tax policy (to be implemented in 2023). This technology synthesizes CO2 into low-carbon methanol which can then be mass produced to fuel industrial use and achieve circular recycling.

The latest industry trends are presented by the Industrial Technology Department of MoEA (DoIT) at the exhibition. All visitors and requests for collaboration are welcome. Come visit the TIE Discovering Technology Treasures exhibition online between October 14e and 23rd!

Editor’s Note: The previous article published in our last issue (October 4) contained outdated and incorrect information. This article provides the latest and correct information about the modernization of the Industrial Technology Center.

Without any significant upgrades in 47 years, the Industrial Technology Center (ITC) is finally receiving much-needed renovations from May 2022.

The total budget for the renovationions is $ 44,776,000, approved by the Board of Regents. The building will receive renovations to the existing facility on the southeast side, and a new addition will be added to the north-western part of the building.

The building retrofit approval process took years. According to the Dean of the College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences, John Fritch, UNI first proposed renovations in 2017 and then proposed it to the legislature in 2018. However, the proposals were rejected due to the funding. In 2020, the project received partial funding and full funding was granted this year.

The building is in dire need of an upgrade, as little work has been done to keep up with growing technology areas.

“The building was built in 1975 and it was state of the art for 1975,” said Fritch. “It’s still the state of the art for 1975.”

He continued, “The second thing is that the structure of the building is dated. For example, each faculty office has only one outlet. So you know, they had room for a lamp and possibly a typewriter. But now no one can be satisfied with just one point of sale in their office. But now we’re doing robotics, and that sort of thing. We just don’t have the power in it. In addition, we passed the building. We need a lot more space.

The renovation will allow UNI to develop new programs in constantly evolving fields and to involve students in interactive learning and projects. Building renovations are specifically designed to be flexible and create space for new work.

“Who knows what the world will bring in 20 years, so we want to be ready to make those kinds of changes,” said Fitch.

In addition, the technology program hopes to attract new students.

“We’ll be better able to tell students what we’re actually doing,” Fitch said. “Now you walk into the building and it looks like a very old, old fashioned building, so they can assume our programs are too. We believe that the students will better understand what we do.

The modernization project received generous donations from sponsors to help cover costs. Dave and Karen Takes donated $ 10 million to UNI in 2019, and $ 1 million of that money will be used for renovations. John Deere is providing $ 750,000 for the project, and Master Builders of Iowa is contributing $ 250,000. Fitch recognizes how proud they are that people and businesses recognize all of the hard work that UNI’s technology department has done and will continue to do.

The Wayne State College and Northeast Community College agreement, signed on August 3, 2021, aims to strengthen industrial technology programs in the region, according to Jeff Allen.

WSC and NCC signed the agreement to make it easier for students to have new choices and an extension of their associate’s degree, according to Allen, professor of technology and applied science at WSC. If a student wishes to have the opportunity to earn their bachelor’s degree, this agreement allows NCC students to transfer up to 80 credits to the WSC. Allen said any student who gets a two-year degree can most likely get a four-year degree with little difficulty.

Applied science professors from both colleges were able to meet on September 10, 2021 and discuss how this agreement works for each college and how the transfer process works. “We’ve been introduced to people… we usually email and all of a sudden we could say, ‘Oh, here’s that person,’” Allen said.

Allen believes the deal gives students the opportunity to be placed in their field of study upon leaving college. “Our security and construction students come out and get jobs ranging from fifty to seventy thousand dollars a year right off the bat,” Allen said.

Allen said that at WSC, students get internships during the summer and immediately receive job offers to come to work after graduation.

With the expansion of industrial technology, WSC courses are filled with students. An additional staff member may teach some courses.

When students transfer their credits to WSC from NCC, staff will be able to see where that student stands academically. This will help professors know which higher level courses students need to take.

A student specializing in safety drawing, design and management, Jacob Cech, said he was excited about the increased interest in applied science at WSC. “I will be able to gain more experience in different classes… and learn different styles that will allow me to understand how I want to do my own thing someday,” said Cech.

Allen is pleased with the growth of the program and excited about the expansion. “A shrinkage program is a terrible thing to go through… growing up is actually pretty fun. ”

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology Deemed University, Bhubaneswar, jumped 200 positions globally to appear in the 801-1000 cohort in the Times Higher Education 2022 World University Rankings, announced Thursday.

This is a significant improvement from last year when it reached a rank of 1001+. KIIT’s performance makes it the # 1 ranked university in

Odisha and eastern India, a KIIT press release said.

While KIIT, NIT Rourkela, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) share the same rank in this coveted annual ranking and the most referenced of global higher education institutions, IIT Bhubaneswar and Manipal Academy of Higher Education were ranked 1000+.

As a young university of only 17 years old, KIIT’s performance is better than any other university in the country.

It has also achieved impressive positions in the rankings carried out by various government agencies.

Expressing his joy for the development, Professor Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT & KISS, acknowledged the combined efforts of students and staff for the achievement. “The performance of KIIT in the ranking is important because it is a multidisciplinary university with up to 28 faculties. If this was an institution offering only engineering courses, it would have achieved a much higher ranking, ”he said.

The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings is an annual publication of the Times Higher Education (THE) university rankings.

TAIPEI, TAIWAN – Media OutReach – August 24, 2021 – The lifespan of photovoltaic (PV) solar panels can reach 30 years, if not properly disposed of, it is expected that the cumulative amount of waste from solar modules in the world will reach 8 million tonnes by 2030 How to integrate used solar modules into the circular economic model is a major issue. With the support of the Department of Industrial Technology (DoIT) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) innovated the “easy-to-dismantle photovoltaic module” and reinvented the solar module. ITRI has introduced easy-to-dismantle materials and new structural designs at the upstream manufacturing end of the solar module value chain, enabling complete dismantling of used solar panels, greatly increasing the value of module recycling solar.

The overhaul of the PV module can move towards a net zero and truly renewable energy future.

To further introduce the new technology to the international market, ITRI will host the “Approaching to Green More: Easy-Dismantled PV Module” webinar on September 16.e (Jeu), 2021, to analyze EU solar panel recycling trends and opportunities for innovative technologies to enter the international market. The webinar invited Dr Frank Lenzmann from the Netherlands Energy Research Center to share his experiences and discuss the life cycle of solar PV modules and how to solve the latest environmental challenges.

In addition, ITRI’s Materials and Chemicals Research Laboratories will also share the research and development spirit behind the innovation of easy-to-disassemble PV module which keeps the high conversion efficiency of PV panel. The webinar also invited leading listed companies from Taiwan to share the latest trends in PV panel materials. SPEAR Invest, a newly formed asset manager with a focus on industrials and industrial technology, has launched its first ETF.

Robotics and Automation is one of the many sub-themes of industrial technology in which the ETF invests.

The SPEAR Alpha ETF (SPRX US) has been registered on Nasdaq and comes with an expense ratio of 0.75%.

The actively managed fund targets disruptive and growth-oriented companies, selecting the most compelling stocks from a number of industrial technology sub-themes, including environmental impact, digitization of manufacturing, robotics and automation, photonics, additive manufacturing, space exploration and artificial intelligence.

U.S.-listed stocks, including American Depository Receipts, can be selected, and the ETF will generally favor large-cap companies with market capitalizations over $ 10 billion.

SPEAR first uses a top-down analysis, drawing on internal and external research, to select companies that are significant beneficiaries of the sub-themes. The fund may invest in breakthrough companies at any stage of the supply chain, from the extraction and processing of raw materials, to the manufacturing of components, to the companies that produce, use or benefit from products. finished.

Once a company is identified as relevant to a sub-theme, SPEAR performs bottom-up research including an assessment of the company’s competitive positioning, financial performance, ESG profile and the quality of the management team. management to select only two or three actions from each sub-topic. . The fund’s portfolio is expected to consist of approximately 25 high conviction stocks.

Individual positions may be resized or removed based on a reassessment of the valuation of the company or changes in structural factors of the industry such as increased competition or disruptive new technologies.

Ivana Delevska, Founder of SPEAR Invest, said: “SPRX offers comprehensive and profitable exposure to long-term established secular themes as well as emerging themes. It is based on a strategy based on primary research in an area that could have significant and underestimated favorable winds over the next five years. As an actively managed fund, it’s important to stress that while SPRX invests in innovative industrial technologies, we believe the real value lies in finding opportunities under the radar throughout the supply chain.

Oregon-Davis added a director of student services. Carrie Miller was officially hired by the school board last week, on the recommendation of Superintendent Bill Bennett.

“She will help us with our Title I programs, our high capacity and enrichment programs, probably our McKinney-Vento link, and a few other hats, as well as helping [Principal B.J.] Awald as the dean of the high school students, ”Bennett explained. “She also has extensive experience in Title I and RTI. I think she will fit in really well with the school and the community.

Bennett previously said the new position would help Awald be more productive and allow him to focus more on the curriculum at both schools.

Meanwhile, Oregon-Davis Junior / Senior High School has a new industrial technology teacher. Joe Veger comes to OD after stints at Knox and Logansport. “So Joe is going to be able to bring us a lot of different programs that we haven’t offered in the past, as well as start going into our Next Level Pathways and be able to get some of those courses that we’ve all voiced for. of interest. there were a few meetings, and I think I said to the guys, “Well, you just can’t find some people to teach them.” “So I’m corrected,” Bennett said.

Veger wants to bring a chapter of SkillsUSA to Oregon-Davis. He told board members that this would give students the opportunity to participate in national competitions and win scholarships. The school board was due to finalize the hiring for the next school year at a special meeting on Tuesday.
